The Augustinian Church – a place of prayer and hope.
Saint Rita of Cascia is venerated as an intercessor in desperate situations. Her life was marked by suffering, loss, and ultimately deep devotion to God in the Augustinian order.
The Rose: A Sign of Her Hope
A special symbol of her hope is the rose. Shortly before her death, she asked for a flower, and in the midst of winter, a blooming rosebush was found—symbolizing that nothing is impossible for God.
Saint Rita, you are called the "Helper in Hopeless Cases." I ask you, help me also in my needs! With full trust, I commend them to your intercession. Obtain for me from God courage and faith, so that I may bear my cross with patience and humility. Grant my heart peace and tranquility amid the worries in which I live. Obtain for me grace and strength to make amends for my sins, and give me confident hope in your help. From your example, we learn that love on this earth is not without thorns; for God Himself gave you the visible thorn of His love, because you wanted to follow Him with all the strength of your heart in suffering and in love. With your help, may I also stand in this light of faith and trust that God, through your intercession, will grant me what is impossible for man. For God, the Lord, is the defender of the abandoned and the strength of all who trust in Him. Amen.
